Abstract:
This article examines and critically analyses some of the main concepts of globalization in modern economic literature. This includes the following: significant increases in the magnitude of international transactions, increasing economic interdependence, increasing international economic integration, increasing internationalization. The author also examines the assertion that the end of the nation-state will be the final result or a major indication of globalization and argues that this assertion is exaggerated. The author notes that the existing concepts of globalization concentrate on quantitative changes (macroeconomic trends) in international economic relations (or simply international relations) and, as such, they do not reflect existing reality. In the author's opinion, the search for a more accurate explanation of the globalization concept in economic terms should be shifted to an analysis of qualitatively new phenomena in the world economy.
