Abstract: This article comprises the bases of sex structure of sport active population. The historical and demographic special features of the formation of sport active population are presented and described. The size of males and females, taking up sport in Russia and in the Omsk Region, is analysed. The special attention is paid to the interconnection between the sport activity of population and the demographic development of country
