Abstract: The article justifies the need to evaluate the quality of local finance management. The author examines financial monitoring as the instrument of regulation, stimulation and control over the local government activity. The article also includes the outcomes and prospects of the method implementation (evaluating the quality of local finance management and the paying capacity of the municipal formations of the Leningrad oblast).
