Abstract: The article provides a theoretical justification of the place of social goods as a category; the system-forming features of social goods are revealed; due to these features the demand for social goods is always inflated, and supply is undersized. The author suggests a classification of social goods, with provision for possible removal of some and various degree of their usage, and also describes the changing role of the state in the provision of social goods.
