Abstract: The authors attempt to identify the competitive advantages of the country and the possible ways of their further development aimed at more effective integration of Russia into global economics. The emphasis is laid upon the analysis of the energy potential of Russia as the country's most competitive sphere, which currently acts as a sort of locomotive and provides momentum for the development of the country's economics on the whole.
