Abstract: One of the main conditions for the successful formation of the peasant households is credit ensuring. Credit is the only tool of intensification of agricul-tural production process through the purchase of agricultural machinery, equip-ment and introduction of new technologies. Therefore, in the present conditions the effective existence of private peasant households is impossible without a long-term mortgage lending. In this regard, research on the Peasant Land Bank activities acquires special significance, allowing to gain invaluable experience in the application of various methods and means of intensification of agriculture. The research determines the role of the Peasant Land Bank in solving of the agrarian question on the territory of Belarus in the end of the 19th beginning of the 20th century. It is the first time in historical science when the comprehensive research of the activities of the Belarusian branches of the Peasant Land Bank was made and their effect on the growth of peasant land ownership, land market stabilization during agrarian crisis and the realization of the Stolypin agrarian reform in Belarusian provinces was shown. The results of the research offer the challenge for further study of the agrarian history of Belarus of the second half of the 19th beginning of the 20th century. In addition, the experience of the bank’s activities on the territory of Belarus will be useful for the banking sector of the ecomomy of the Russian Federation in the choice of monetary policy instruments.
