STUDY OF OCCUPATION IN LABOUR MARKET IN GALICIA. GENDER INFLUENCE

Abstract:
Personal features that have an effect on the role played in the labour market in Galicia are studied. To this end an occupation model is constructed, which is designed to estimate the probability that a person of working age takes part in the working population, being employed or unemployed. Once the model parameters are estimated by binary logistic regression, the probability of being employed (or unemployed) conditioned to different personal features is calculated, so as to evaluate the real effect of these features on the role played in the labour market. From the empirical analysis the gender is obtained as the most influential personal feature. Moreover, the effect of other covariates is also dependent on the gender.
