Abstract: Galicia’s first sale markets play an important role in the distribution chain, and the European hake (merluccius merluccius) is one of the most representative species. Therefore, it would be especially interesting for the case in hand to analyse the trade relations between the agents that participate in the distribution chains and the mechanism for forming the prices of fish products. In this paper we aim to characterise price transmissions along the distribution chain of fresh European hake in the Spanish market, focusing on the link between the first-sale markets and wholesalers. The application of econometric methodology will enable us to obtain significant results and reveal long and short-term price transmissions.
