THE ANALYSIS OF ARGENTINIAN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY EXPORTS AS AN EXPRESSION OF THEIR COMPETITIVENESS, 1960-1976

Abstract: Most of the studies on Argentine industry were limited to the industry development internally. In that sense, they lose sight of the international developments in different branches. This is fundamental to understand the local development, and to understand against whom and under what conditions the Argentine manufacture had to compete. For this reason, in this work we analyze the international competitiveness of the Argentine agricultural machinery between 1960 and 1976, with export potential for several authors, from the elements that led the capital accumulation in the sector. We studied the characteristics of the domestic market and local production. With this background, we studied the exports situation, analyzing the destination of shipments and the relative share of Argentina in those markets. This allows us to discuss the idea of the Argentine agricultural machinery as a sector with a tendency to export.
