Abstract:
This article seeks, primarily, to offer an in-depth study of how the serious financial crisis that has been wreaking havoc throughout the real global economy since the end of 2008, has affected the Cypriot banking system. Following an analysis of their institutional structures and most pertinent characteristics, the article presents the current situation and recent evolution of their main economical-financial magnitudes relating to number of entities, volume of channelled assets, deposits managed, loans granted, profitability, solvency, efficiency and, finally, diverse banking service indicators.
