UN ANÁLISIS MACROECONÓMICO DE LA ACUMULACION DE CAPITAL EN ESPANA DURANTE LA FASE DE EXPANSION (1995-2007)

Abstract: En este artículo se lleva a cabo un estudio del proceso de acumulación de capital en la economía española durante el período 1995-2007. El objetivo es analizar los desequilibrios de un modelo económico basado en el auge del precio de los activos asociados a la construcción, principalmente de tipo residencial, habida cuenta del papel central que ha tenido en el crecimiento económico de esta fase. El estudio se realiza a partir de la relación entre la inversión, la productividad y los índices de precios, para revelar las especificidades de la acumulación de capital en España. Se muestra la importancia de la composición de la inversión, junto a la divergencia entre los diferentes índices de precios, así como la reconfiguración de la estructura económica para explicar los diversos desequilibrios que se han generado en estos años.

This article presents a study of the process of capital accumulation in the Spanish economy during the 1995-2007 period. The objective is to analyze the imbalances of an economic model based on the rise in the price of assets associated with construction, mainly residential, given the central role it has played in the economic growth during that period. The study is carried out using the relationship between investment, productivity, and price indexes, to reveal the specificities of capital accumulation in Spain. We highlight the importance of the composition of investment, together with the divergence between the different price indexes as well as the reconfiguration of the economic structure, in order to explain the different imbalances that have been generated over this period.
