Abstract:
The Council of Europe’s Cultural Routes are a certification of routes the heritage of which is a significant tourist resource in various destinations. This singularity implies a network management based on cooperation and collaboration that determines the development of these locations. By means of the study of secondary sources, the public-private management of the Emperor Charles V Network is analysed as a reflection of the promotion capacity of the destination. The results show a low level of involvement of the private sector in comparison with institutional bodies, which means a lesser positive impact on the population on a business and economic development level as a result of this European certification.
