Abstract:
This work presents a general view of land privatization and of the use of Spanish public forest during the second half of the XIXth century and the first third of the XXth century. Main characteristics of that process are defined for the whole Spain starting from available statistics, which are criticized and modified in some ways. The diversity of that process is also set off, trough the study of several regional cases. Afterwards, a hypothesis is posed, and it is that the liberal reform aimed not only the establishment of the “perfect property”, but also to guarantee new ways of accumulation in order to be adapted to a different ecological, economic and social conditions in every place.
