Abstract:
The complex evolution of agrarian structures and the associated social conflict in the irrigated zone of Valencia is shown through a social analysis of the politics of a small city during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The participation of agrarian groups in the urban politics of Valencia was a more important than historiography presently recognises. Furthermore, the role played by the lesser agrarian sectors should not be adjudged as always subordinated.
