Abstract:
This article analyses the survival of common land by considering the usefulness of the theory of property right as an explanation. The author therefore considers the process to privatize common land, along with the mechanisms used to establish the control and the access rights to common land in Navarra from 1855 to 1935. The present paper seeks to show how redefining property rights, which occurred during the transition from agriculture to capitalism, was not a straightforward process as it was noted for its great complexity
