De la sociedad rural en la España contemporánea y del concepto de sociedad capitalista: un ensayo

Abstract:
The first section performs a highly schematic reconstruction of the characteristics of and how rural societies evolve in contemporary Spain. The second section proposes a redefinition of the concept of the capitalistic society. Both parts are closely connected: the strictly historical presentation of this work seeks to show how the ways of organizing agrarian societies developed in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century were diverse and not easily compatible with the concepts of the development of rural capitalism and that of modernization that both Marxist and neo-classical theoretical tradition proclaimed respectively. Starting with this controversy, the second part puts forward a redefinition of the concept of capitalism considered to be compatible with the historical results we report. Finally, the theoretical resources that inspired our proposal are described.
