Abstract:
This article analyses ,the small territorial estates in the Valenica region throughout the Late Middle Ages from a micro-analytical perspective. Conclusions are inferred from one specific case, Bellaguarda, a farmstead located an irrigated peri-urban area in La Plana de Castellón during the 15th century. There was an important market due both to its intensive farming operations and to the interests of the low nobility and local urban gentry as it was a suzerainty. Furthermore, the instability ensuing from the economic difficulties of the time is noted and that the capitalism patterns of agricultural holdings were not always applied.
