Abstract:
A series of tithes prepared using data from the accounts of two Cistercian priories in the province of Orense, allows us to analyse the agrarian evolution at two points of Galicia. This provides proof of and enables us to assess one type of agriculture prevailing or its setback as a result of the others emerging. We report the differences between these two priories when a boom in corn at Longos caused the millet crop to disappear and even affected the rye. On the other hand, the rye at the Gironda started and ended the decimal series as the main cereal while corn, which was already known in the zone failed to make any impact in the period studied.
