Abstract:
This article provides a historiographical overview of the key publications in the field of Dutch agricultural history. It particularly focuses on publications from the Early Modern and the Modern era published alter 1945 and starts with a brief look at the institutional framework. Dutch agriculture is noted for its great variety in agricultural systems and one of the features of the majority of studies of Dutch agricultural history is their regional and regionalising approach. This, however, is also strongly influenced by the organizational structure of its archives. Prior to 1950, most studies lacked a long term and structural approach, which can be seen as a further feature of later publications.
