Review of Business and Economic Literature, 2010, vol. 55, issue 2, 175-190
Abstract:
Industry-science links have become a key dimension of modern innovation management and policy. In order to support and develop those links, professional technology transfer organizations have been implemented by universities around the globe. In this paper, the growth and development of these technology transfer organizations is analyzed, reflecting and building on the case of K.U.Leuven Research & Development. It is argued that three distinct stages of growth and development can be recognized. This 3-staged evolution has propelled the academic technology transfer function to the strategic frontier of current university management and policy.
