Die Entwicklung des Drogenkonsums in der Schweiz seit 1990

Helmut Knolle

Swiss Journal of Economics and Statistics (SJES), 1997, vol. 133, issue I, 49-63

Abstract: The number of charges against users and dealers of illegal drugs in Switzerland has risen substantially since 1990. Within 4 years, charges related to consumption only have increased by a factor of 2.5 and those related to dealing only by a factor of 3.2. Using a generalized Poisson approach and a data base which provides the number of persons with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and more than 6 charges in the same year, the number of users of illegal drugs in each year was estimated. It was found that the number of users of illegal drugs has increased by 25-30% during the 4 years since 1990, attaining about 110'000 in 1994.
