Abstract: This article presents an analysis of the modern instruments of quality management in health care services - ISO 9001:2008, which is the main issue of certification of quality management system and accreditation standards created by the Quality Centre of Monitoring in Public Health for medical units (hospitals, units of primary care) to receive the so-called accreditation certificate. The aim of this article is to present external quality assessment systems in health care as well as their comparative analysis (history, purposes, main assumptions) with a focus on the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and accreditation standards created by the Quality Centre of Monitoring in Public Health.
