Abstract:
There are many dimensions of quality. These most often considered are related to those features that correspond to customer needs. This means that business searches for solutions and parameters of such products or services that will satisfy customers' expectations. This approach led to the development of numerous methods, procedures and management systems which aim at offering products and services of excellent quality. The systematic observation of market developments and expectations of customers shows that more and more often apart from the price and performance of the products and services the social issues and environmental conditions of their manufacturing process and operation begin to play an important role. The market for products of socially responsible and environmentally friendly increased even during the recent crisis, as exemplified by the growth of the market and the importance of FairTrade products. Recognizing the needs of customers who demand the fulfilment of certain social and environmental criteria led to the development of different ways of managing their organizations' social and environmental influences. The solutions such as cleaner production, environmental management systems ISO 14001 and EMAS, SA 8000 standard and the Global Compact initiative can be mentioned here. The ISO 26000 guidelines for social responsibility of the organization, published in 2010, seem to be the most comprehensive guide in this area. The article will, under the provisions of ISO 26000, discuss the directions to improve the social and environmental aspects of quality.
