Abstract:
This paper presents results of an observational study aimed to identify factors affecting users’ willingness to access on-line services using mobile devices such as Smartphone, tablet or laptop. In this observational study 7 users over 14 days were recording their on-line activity in connection to the motivating or de-motivating factors to use a specific mobile device in a particular context. As a result, four types of mobile contexts have been identified (home, travel, desktop, outside) and main types of on-line services (mail/contacts, travel planning, news, information search, shopping and entertainment). This study also helped to identify generic characteristics of typical on-line-services-related tasks, in which one of available mobile devices (Smartphone, tablet or laptop) have been preferred by users as the most convenient access point.
