Abstract: Article develops one of the key problems of modern consulting and it attempts to analyze customer (organization) needs in the area of consulting services and the importance of consulting for contemporary organizations. The article aims to analyze the importance of consulting services for organizations and attempts to identify main areas of organization that require external support of professional consultants. The article presents benefits and potential threats for organizations related to the external consulting services. The article ends with a presentation of research on various aspects of organizational consulting. Research methods applied in the article are: critical analysis of literature sources, research surveys conducted among respondents who are participants in postgraduate studies in management.
