Abstract:
The article describes basic concepts of carrying out research and defining media management. Research determinants and specification of given research area have been denoted, including information as primary stock being ‘utilized’ by media organizations. One introduced basic Polish and international research areas related to media management. Distinctness of attitude towards public and commercial media enterprises has been emphasized. The article verified two theses: 1. information, being basic good of contemporary world, requires new ways of management; it concerns especially media organizations; 2. the change of ways in which media organizations are managed requires staff possessing different than until now predispositions, knowledge and skills, which in turn, necessitates new ways of education.
