Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to present new findings related to the link between entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial opportunity. The deliberations are initiated with a short literature review on entrepreneurial motivation and opportunity and the following part is dedicated to presenting conclusions from author’s own research. The paper is based on qualitative research and in-depth interviews as the research instrument. The author implements the concept of general and specific entrepreneurial motivation. The paper emphasizes also the complexity of opportunity identification and evaluation and the importance of perception and experience of prospective entrepreneurs. Using the guidelines of grounded theory the author presents a new concept integrating entrepreneurial motivation and opportunity identification and evaluation. The findings also cast light on the circumstances contributing to the decision to start a business.
