Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of managers in organizations. Practitioners’ point of view, who fully engaged in the role, on that problem is compared with images constructed by students who use their imagination instead of knowledge or experience. The paper presents results of qualitative research conducted in two types of organizations – international organizations operating in the financial services industry and public university.
