Abstract: The paper presents the development of e-government in South Africa and the main influencing factors. It discusses the concept of providing e-services for citizens and levels of their sophistication. The paper includes the results of an analysis of e-services provided by the public administration in South Africa. The summary provides recommendations and conclusions about the directions of e-government development in South Africa.
