Abstract: The aim of the article is to provide characteristics of the development of marketplace trade in Poland by region. It consists of two complementary parts. In the first part, based on the analysis of the development of economic phenomena over time (trend models, dynamics indices), the author identified the direction and intensity of changes in marketplace trade globally (for Poland) and by province in 1995–2013. The second part is devoted to determination of the spatial diversification of the level of development of marketplace trade by province. Making use of the dynamic multidimensional comparative analysis and the synthetic measure of development, the author characterized the hierarchical spatial structure of marketplace trade and its changes over time. At the same time, there are separated homogenous groups of provinces in terms of the level of development of bazaar trade. The article is of the research nature. Its preparation was based on secondary sources of information (the CSO, the Local Data Bank). The research is limited by the unavailability of statistical data already collected (secondary data sources) and its partial incomparability in time. The analyses findings have both cognitive and pragmatic value, particularly in the regional planning.
