Abstract:
Psychological contract describes the exchange relationships that occur between employees and organizations. A characteristic feature of the psychological contract is that it consists of both spoken and unspoken mutual expectations and obligations arising between the two parties. The aim of the article is to present the effects of age and seniority on the development of the psychological contract due to the expected values and the values offered by the employees in an exchange with employers. In addition, it has been shown that with age and years of service the employees change preferences in the implementation of a specific type of psychological contract (i.e. transactional, sustainable and relational) as well as the perception of the scope of violation of the psychological contract. The analysis was developed based on the author’s own research, which involved 800 employees of large and medium-sized companies operating in the Polish territory. The results showed that the conditions of the contract and the perception of its breach vary with age of employees and their experience in the workplace.
