Abstract: Research on corporate networks can be seen as a modern management imperative resulting from significant determinants of the environment and the development of new business models. The aim of this article is to present the main issues of network research in strategic management in the context of use of social network analysis (SNA). The choice of a theoretical basis for explaining the processes and mechanisms of the network, specification of the type of tested network and the type of relations, as well as determination of the level of network analysis are recognised as the most important problems. In view of the specificity of strategic management, considerations are limited to the examples of a network of companies or a network of main decision-makers, such as members of management or supervisory boards. The analysis focuses on both the opportunities of social network analysis as well as its actual limitations that determine the range of potential research.
