Abstract: The paper attempts to develop a theoretical framework for assessing the efficiency of an urban development strategy based on supporting a professional football club. Based on a literature review and an empirical study, the proposed approach defines a set of both economic and non-economic parameters. The choice of these parameters, as intended by the author, should be considered as a preliminary proposal for further discussion and future research.
