Abstract: The article is devoted to the use of the historical approach in contemporary management. The author discusses the issue mentioned in the context of “historical turn” in organizational sciences, the organization remembering and forgetting as interpreted discursively as well as competence management in the treatment of organizational memory as a competence of the organization (as T. Oleksyn proposes). The author refers to his proposal as “organizational reminding”. This category means the process of intentional, dynamic and discursive initiating and asking questions by management researchers and reflective practitioners, questions which have their origin in the widely understood, critically interpreted organizational traditions. They concern both practices (that is, minimizing a single loop of forgetting) and values (that is, dealing with a double loop of forgetting, in accordance with the concept of M. Kostera and S. Ciuk).
