Abstract:
Consolidations in the higher education sector have been increasingly implemented in many countries in the past two decades, most often taking the form of integration or federal fusions carried out both between public and private universities. In the Polish higher education sector, operating in the conditions of deepening demographic decline, there is a growing pressure on consolidation processes. The aim of the article is a comparative analysis of objectives, but also methods for conducting university mergers, taking into account the diversity between a group of public and private universities. The conclusions point to similarities and differences between the mergers of public and non-public universities in Poland.
