Abstract: Households are becoming more active players in developing the financial markets in Poland. The paper presents an analysis of the influence of economic crisis on the investment behaviour of Polish consumers in the years 2006-2009.The structure of financial assets of Polish households is moderately conservative. The Poles' investment portfolio is dominated by their participation in financial instruments with low risk and low rate of return. Therefore, the financial turmoil has had little influence on the structure of the investment portfolio of Polish consumers.
