FACTORS CONTRIBUTE TO PROJECT SUCCESS IN IRANIAN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Abstract: The construction industry has a vibrant nature. Its environment has become more vibrant because of increasing in the ambiguity in budgetary, technology and improvement process. A construction project is completed as a result of many activities and their interactions. So certain factors are more important for success of project than others and these factors called critical success factors. These factors have influence and establish the success of project. Quantitative survey was carried out where 70 questionnaires were randomly distributed to selected project managers, contractors, engineers, architectures, quantity surveyors and consultants from various construction companies within Tehran city. However, only 52 questionnaires were returned and analyzed, yielding a response rate of 75%. As results, it was found that Iranian construction industry needs more attention in terms of using capable personnel such as project manager, leaders, contractors who must have more experiences and be able to handle issues properly. In addition, there is in fact a need for a sufficient and proper scheduling, budgeting and technical design and specifications to prevent future matters
