Abstract:
The energy sector is one of the key industries, which define the road of Bulgaria and Europe to a sustainable future. Also, this is one of the sectors that rely very much on the community policies. The political strategies at the EU-level define the national sector strategies, hence their proper understanding and evaluation are key for the economic development of Bulgaria. Moreover, it is needed not only to follow the community policies after their adoption, but to be an integral part in the process of their formation, analysis and redefinition. The current report analyses the legislative and regulatory framework in Bulgaria, related to the electricity sector and specifically the formation and application of renewable energy investments support schemes. The report presents the main current policy deficits and the main challenges for the Bulgarian electricity sector.
