Abstract:
Managers often intervene in conflicts between employees. Their interventions are considered emergent or informal in order to be distinguished from the formal (professional) third parties. The paper examines the roles that managers play as informal third parties in subordinates' conflicts. Various intervention strategies are reviewed. The applications of some managerial interventions are evaluated and discussed.
