Abstract:
This comprehensive study investigates the central role of executive coaching programmes in fostering managerial development and honing leadership skills in a field that, despite its rising prominence, presents difficulties in measuring effectiveness and has limited empirical support. Our research bridges this knowledge gap by methodically dissecting the dynamics of coaching effectiveness, revealing key outcomes such as personal growth, strategic decision-making, team collaboration, career advancement, and improved organisational performance. Our findings, which are supported by a literature review and a structured survey, demonstrate that customised coaching interventions, when implemented effectively, significantly improve leadership competencies such as decision-making, strategic thinking, and interpersonal communication. The study employs structural equation modelling to validate the positive cascading effect of executive coaching on the personal development of leaders, which leads sequentially to career advancement, effective management, and team performance, and ultimately drives organisational success. Concurrently, the research identifies potential impediments to effective coaching, such as inadequate organisational support and misalignment between coaching objectives and organisational goals, thereby setting the groundwork for future research in executive coaching. Organisations and Human Resource Development professionals can optimise their coaching strategies for maximum leadership development with the help of these findings.
