Innovations in antimonopoly regulations

Abstract: The necessity for the adoption of the so-called second antimonopoly statute - a set of measures and amendments in the legislation - is predetermined by the present day situation in Russia characterized by governmental abuse of market power, tough anticompetitive acts of market participants. Such law-breakers should be criminally prosecuted. One of the main ideas of the second antimonopoly statute is the new version of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the RF which states criminal responsibility for the gravest violations of the antimonopoly legislation. The amendments that make up the second antimonopoly statute are aimed at making legal anticompetitive measures more up-to-date, suitable for the existing economic activity and maintaining favourable competitive environment in the country. Aleksey Gennadievich Sushkevich, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, spoke for the journal on innovations in antimonopoly regulations.
