Abstract: The paper considers the concept of competitiveness of the tourist product, and features of formation of tourist destination as part of the tourism system. The article analyzes using the term «tourist destination» in Russian and foreign scientific literature, and concludes, how through the using of client-oriented approach to improve the competitiveness of tourist region as a tourist destination.
