Abstract:
This study examines the effect of political stability on economic growth by employing a panel data set covering 19 developing economies for the period between 1986 and 2003 in which political stability is questioned extensively in the literature of political macroeconomics. This research confirms the main finding obtained in many researches that political stability is positively related with economic growth and macroeconomic performance in developing economies. It is also found that the estimated country specific effects on economic growth are positive for most of the Asian countries and negative for the Latin American countries in the sample.
