Abstract: Abstract The collection of papers in this special issue examines empirical evidence from Asia, Europe, and North America, analyzes how climate change affects the spatial economy, and explores the feasibility of carbon neutrality as a countermeasure to climate change. It begins by discussing the research background, the motivation for emphasizing spatial considerations, and the analysis in climate change studies. Each accepted paper is then elaborated upon regarding topic selection, methodology, and findings. The issue highlights the crucial role of spatial elements in climate studies and aims to inspire further research in this direction. By leveraging regional science and analytical tools, the goal is to develop more effective and equitable policies for carbon abatement.
