Verhindert die Statistikausbildung den Fortschritt der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften?

Abstract:
The paper argues that statistical education in Germany is biased towards mathematical stochastics, which does not mirror the requirements in practice. In empirical applied statistical work it is important to know about index numbers, sampling problems and measurement issues in general. These issues should therefore be given more weight in the academic curriculum as well. Copyright Springer 2008
