Abstract:
Abstract Small hydro power is considered environment friendly and sustainable as compared to other renewable sources of energy. Proper operation of hydro power plant contributes significantly to generate maximum energy with minimum losses. In the present study, a complex approach has been presented for optimal operation of SHP plants. In this approach, operation parameters are considered in a mathematical model and optimized by nonlinear constrained technique taking the effect of annual energy generation and operation cost. The optimization is derived by the objective function, which includes the annual energy as well as operation cost as the previous models developed by various authors have not included the operation cost and focused only on the generation of energy. The results obtained gave maximum annual profit and optimal values of the operational parameters.
