Abstract:
Abstract This note recounts how the author was introduced to George Leitmann’s pioneering work on the robust stabilization of uncertain dynamic systems. It explores the challenges this approach faced in gaining acceptance among economists, including ideological resistance and the shift from empirical to theoretical approaches in economics. It also reflects on the relevance of Leitmann’s ideas in light of the Lucas Critique and the broader evolution of economic thought, highlighting the enduring importance of robustness in policy design.
