Abstract: Abstract The socioeconomic and environmental importance of the industry in Algeria is no longer to be demonstrated. It contributes in sedentary lifestyle of the population by providing jobs in oasis regions and by generating currencies exported from their products. But this sector encounters difficulties in its operation, mainly: the production segment marked by a low yield due to several constraints, notably the irrigation. This constraint is analyzed basing on concrete case of the performances of the date palm farms of the region of Tolga (Department of Biskra). A work was carried out through a survey of 170 farms and interviews with institutions that have relations with the subject. The study showed that the irrigation situation in these palm groves remains inefficient and that the main irrigation indicators remain far from the recommended standards; although the improvement recorded through the support programs. The situation results from a series of technical and socioeconomic constraints. The consequences are detrimental to the technical and economic performance of farms.
