Abstract: Abstract In this study, a diverse group of individuals was engaged from various backgrounds through online surveys and personal interactions to examine the increasing prevalence of online shopping preferences, particularly in the post-COVID era. Apart from assessing awareness among citizens about the generation of non-biodegradable plastic packaging waste resulting from excessive online shopping the disposal methods they adopted were also enquired. Findings indicated that approximately 150 tonnes of packaging waste accumulate each month in our country, suspected to increase exponentially, emphasizing the need for essential measures to promote reuse and recycling. To ensure the sustainable development of urban areas, we recommend the implementation of awareness campaigns to encourage mindful purchasing and effective segregation of packaging waste, directing it towards recycling centers. Failing to address this growing trend urgently could pose harmful consequences. Consequently, a remedial model has been proposed for the adoption of stakeholders to tackle this issue proactively.
