Alternate strategies for managing resistance to antibiotics and pesticides

Abstract: How should one manage the problem of resistance to antibiotics and pesticides? The formal modeling of this question is very much in its infancy. Therefore, we construct a dynamic and stochastic model of antibiotic or pesticide use to investigate the relative merits of two kinds of treatment options for overseeing the problem of resistance. In particular, we identify a likelihood function and then, inter alia, we show that this function has an important bearing on how we might best address the problem of resistance.
